Valerie Weston
Chief Consultant

Born and educated in the UK, Valerie taught Classics for over 15 years at some of the UK’s leading independent schools, such as Downe House and the Abbey School (Berkshire). She moved to Asia in 2007, first to Singapore where she taught at leading international schools, and latterly to Hong Kong.
Valerie founded Minerva Tuition in 2011; through a network of highly qualified UK based teachers, Minerva Tuition provides first-class online tuition to pupils wishing to sit entry exams to the UK, as well as in the complete range of academic subjects for IGCSE, A Level and IBDP.
More recently Valerie has been providing schools advice to parents in Asia wishing to send their children to the UK. Having taught both in the UK independent sector and in Asia, Valerie has an excellent understanding of what is required for pupils wishing to move between the two school systems. As a parent, she has personal experience of making the transition; her children were educated both in the UK and in Southeast Asia.
Valerie has a BA in Classics (Bristol University, UK), PGCE (King’s College, London), CELTA (Singapore)
In her spare time, Valerie is a keen amateur violinist. She has participated regularly in musical events in Singapore and latterly Hong Kong where she plays in an amateur symphony orchestra.
She also enjoys reading, primarily books about the ancient world.
