More than a Summer Program

The application for 2019 Stanford Pre-Collegiate International Institutes (SPII) is now open! SPII provides an innovative combination of lectures, workshops, excursions, university admission talks and multicultural exchange that are not typically available in high school curriculums. This college-style program allows students to fully embrace in the joy of curiosity and learning.

For the fourth consecutive year, GRTalent is Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies’ program collaborator in recruiting students from Hong Kong, Macau, and China for the International Institutes Summer Session. This year, 20 applicants from 14-17 years old will be selected to participate in this transformational educational experience at Stanford University.
Students will get a chance to explore the famous Stanford campus and Silicon Valley. This international program is also a fantastic opportunity for participants to engage with people from 15 other countries.

Program Design

The academic aspect of the Stanford Pre-Collegiate International Institutes Summer Program exposes participants to university-level content and teaching style in a classroom that fosters communication, innovation, and creativity. Participants will have the opportunity to experience academic subjects at their applicational use and learn about the career prospects of various disciplines. Popular courses from previous years include Digital Anatomy Lab, Circular Economy, Decision Science, Democracy: Why or Why Not?, Genomics, Visual Design Thinking, and many more. Workshops are taught by Stanford instructors with diverse experience in research and fieldwork.

SPII takes place at the heart of the Stanford campus. Participants will be living in Stanford student residences and having lessons in traditional lecture rooms. Excursions to San Francisco and Stanford’s surrounding areas are also key opportunities for participants to explore the quintessential American college life. Excursions from previous years include watching the SF Giants baseball game at AT&T Park, visit at California Academy of Sciences, Bus Ride at the Golden Gates Bridge and more.

Participants will also be exposed to the American college life experience by living in dormitories used by Stanford undergraduates during the academic school year. They will eat in Stanford cafeteria-style dining halls, which serve a range of healthy options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Program DATE & Fees*

*Program fee includes accommodation and meal plans on Stanford campus.
Flights and tourist visas are not included. Participants are advised to prepare their own arrangements 3 months prior to the program start date. Suggested flight and itinerary will be provided upon admission.

Recruitment Criteria & Application Procedures

Application deadline: Rolling basis until capacity met (20 participants)
Early Bird Application Deadline: 31st December 2018

Age: Students from 14 – 17
Language requirement: High English proficiency

Step 1: Fill in the online application form and submit
Step 2: Attach recent grade reports
Step 3: Submit application and pay application fee of HKD$400
Step 4: Await email confirmation from GRTalent for interview arrangements
Step 5: Skype or in-person interview with GRTalent Counselors
Step 6: Receive admission results
Step 7: Confirm enrolment and pay program fees

EARLY BIRD APPLICATIONS

Applicants qualify for Early Bird reward upon submitting the application form and fee before 31st December, 2018. Early applicants will be offered a free Clifton Strengths for Students assessment and debriefing conducted by GRTalent Education Counselors. To learn more about CliftonStrengths.
