Michael has a joint honours BA from Southampton University in English and History, a PGCE from the University of East Anglia and an MBA from Reading University.

For over three decades he taught English and Business at a variety of English boarding schools. At Shiplake College, Henley-on-Thames, he was first Director of Activities overseeing the extra-curricular programme and then Director of Marketing meeting prospective parents and pupils to discuss admission to the college. As a 6th form tutor he advised many pupils on their UCAS applications.

For the last five years Michael has taught online mostly for Minerva Tuition, teaching many pupils from Hong Kong and Singapore. He has considerable experience of successfully preparing pupils, through entrance examinations and interviews, for admission to many prestigious U.K. schools. Additionally, he  has also taught pupils for English at IGCSE, A Level and International Baccalaureate. Recently, he has prepared pupils for the LNAT assessment.

Away from education, Michael is a freelance travel writer for a wide-range of magazines and websites.
